This was exactly 8 months ago I weighed about 95.2 kg/210 lbs. I expect this year to reach the same bodyfat at 98 kg. I’ve been dieting for about 3 weeks now and I can’t lie about it. The diet really hit me last week. My mental productivity as well as my strength in the gym took a slight hit. And I’m dieting at about 2900 calories which is pretty high for the average person. I lost about 5 kg during this period. But I’m now taking the 4th week as a diet break and I want to drop a quick research showing why this strategy is better for weight loss. There is a 2003 paper by Wing RR and Jeffery RW. And what they found is that whether you diet someone for 20 weeks straight or if you give them 6 weeks diet break in the middle of the weeks or if you give 3 evenly spaced 2 weeks diet break. At the end of the 20 weeks you’ll see the same weight loss which is pretty surprising to say the least. And from experience I can surely tell that after a few weeks of dieting one’s metabolism slows down and one has to decrease calories or do more cardio and I personally hate that.
